- This is the ability to judge the relative distance between objects.
- Depth perception gives a three-dimensional perspective.
- You need to be able to judge distances well to pass other vehicles and change lanes, especially in busy traffic.

To compensate for poor depth perception:
- Increase following distance so that you don’t collide with the car in front of you
- Use mirrors with a convex lens to see a wider field of traffic behind you
