If you encounter a flooded viaduct or road, turn around and take a different route. If you cannot see the pavement, the water might be deeper than you realize. Driving through deep water can damage your engine and other vehicle components.

The driver of the Infiniti in the photo above tried to drive through water that was about 12” deep—and stalled. The Chicago Department of Streets and Sanitation closed the road a few minutes after this photo was taken on July 12, 2014.
